One of the possible choices for an Icarus message is a "One kilo message" - a small time capsule, which could be even built in reality.
Designing and building such a time capsule in an open worldwide collaboration would have several benefits. It could serve as
- an inspiring educational project for the youth, led by experienced workers in the field
- a promotion vehicle for serious, scientific interstellar mission studies in general
just to name two.
Imagine the moment the "
Icarus Time Capsule" would be opened at the start of the first real interstellar craft, propelled by a fusion drive!
One caveat: only the Icarus Design Team can decide which kind of message would have place in the payload. But I am optimistic to get the chance for ONE KILO MESSAGE!
